Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Sugar is made from certified organic sugar cane grown in South America. The cane juice, rich in molasses, vitamins and minerals, is extracted, clarified, evaporated and crystallized. The result is a blond- colored, delicious and natural organic sugar that will enhance all your favorite recipes. Use as a one-for-one replacement for refined white sugar. The Fair Trade Certified logo is Wholesome's guarantee that our farmers cooperatives are paid directly for the cane grown and milled. This means that farmers can compete with factory farms, cultivate the quality of their crops, send their kids to school and build thriving communities.

I made the decision some time ago not to buy bleached sugar ever again. I was thrilled to find this product: fair trade certified natural sugar at a good price.

Great Deal for Fair Trade

If what you’re looking for is the most organic sugar for your buck, then you’ll want to look elsewhere. Whole Food’s has bulk organic sugar for around ~$1.60/lb. And by ‘bulk,’ I don’t mean like Sam’s Club or Costco’s. You scoop/pour the sugar into your own jar (tagged and pre-measured at customer service) or a bag there.

If you’re looking to help your fellow man out a little more, than this isn’t too bad once in a while but it’s steep increase at ~$2.80/lb. This is in contrast to the Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Organic Sugar, 16-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 12), which is the same exact product but around ~3.56/lb, and at best (with Subscribe/Save) $~3.03/lb.

To be completely fair, there have been arguments made against Fair Trade and whether or not it truly helps the struggling farmers that it markets itself as protecting. I won’t link out to anything specific but you can Google “Fair Trade Debate” and find a good amount of criticism against it.

I like to think that it does help.

But I also won’t pretend that I don’t also get the standard organic sugar in bulk.

High quality sugar!

This is great sugar. It has a beautiful blonde color and tastes like great sugar. I love that it is organic and fair trade. This is the best price I’ve found so far and the 10 lb bag will last me a long time. It also nice that it comes in a resealable bag too! Happy customer. Will buy again when I run out.

I love this sugar. As long as this corporation maintains their claimed standards of integrity and dedication I will continue to support it, but more over it is not a chinese product which I refuse to be a part of a problem.

This tastes just like normal sugar. This also dissolves just as rapid as normal sugar. It also looks like normal sugar. The bag can be resealed time and time again after you open it.

No complaints. This is exactly as pictured and described. We are using it to make Chai, and it has good flavor and texture. The only complaint is the price – you can find better deals for raw sugar, albeit not organic, on Amazon.
