What is Organic Food – The Many Benefits of Organic Food

What is Organic Food – The Many Benefits of Organic Food — www.noahhammond.com Today is about health and why you absolutely, without a doubt, must start buying and eating organic food only. This is something that I just woke up to, I would say about a year ago. I know a lot of people are still in the dark about this so I felt that it was really something that I had to get out there. This is REALLY important and it is going to save you potentially a lot of strife down the road and a lot of health problems. The Benefits of Organic Food — More than Health! The first obvious benefit is simply nutrition. The way that industrial farming is done, they plant the same crop on the same soil over and over and over and over again. They stuff it full of fertilizers and they do not allow the natural cycle of composting, decomposing, and crop cycling to occur. The way farming is supposed to be done is you farm a crop and then you allow the soil to replenish by composting and rejuvenating it with lots and lots of nutrients. To do that, you must allow organic material to decompose there. Then, you plant another crop and you cycle the crops so that you can keep doing this. In industrial farming, they do the exact opposite which is planting the same crops in the soil continuously. If you can compare this to anything, it would be trying to get all of your nutrition from vitamins only. It simply does not work. Your body cant take only vitamins and get what it needs. In fact, vitamins are <b>…<b>

Eczema, intro to GAPS diet, food intolerance/allergies

I forgot to mention that I also got blood spots the outer part of my left leg, if that makes any sense. The blood was under my skin, because I tried wiping them away and they stayed, and they were small, like I was pricked by something. I thought it was really weird. = There are a two other potential causes. Im not sure how likely this is, but one is my dog. Sometimes when I pet him I get hives on my arms. However, I kind of doubt he is the cause because my arms were fine, my legs werent. The second is grass, as soon as I sat down I noticed my legs were itchy, and it wasnt until then. PS, I did an enema last night with probiotics instead of coffee. Im not sure how it haswill affect me. Just thought I should note that. I used both dairy free and the biokult probiotics. I also rubbed castor oil over my liver, put a cloth over that, and applied a hot pack on top. I heard my stomach talking a lot last night.

Glycemic Index – Does It Really Matter?

Do we really need to keep stressing over the GI in everyday life? NOOOOO! People tend to forget this was created back in the 1980s as a tool for diabetics and unfortunately found its way into the real world messing up the mind of healthy individuals and convincing them it is the worst thing in the world to focus on the glycemic index of foods. Glycemic Index = measures the effects of carbs and their ability to raise blood sugar levels Keywords Fasted Isolation Postprandial State Glycemic Load Insulin Response Satiety Index Stop concerning yourself with this Insulin "spike" It refers to the idea of a dramatic increase in blood sugar and insulin but in healthy individuals this "spike" is irrelevant because the body is very efficient at keeping blood sugar levels in a heathy range. www.bodyrecomposition.com www.livestrong.com www.alanaragon.com

Welcome to the Alimentary Tuesdays Blog Carnival!

Well it is that time of week again. The week has past so quickly. We had 9 participants in our very 1st blog hop. Thank you so much to all of the participants. We look forward to seeing their new posts.

I want to take a moment to share part of my weekend. It was Jacobs 7th birthday celebration. His b-day is today 11-01 HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB! One of Jacobs birthday wishes was to have a Shockwave (one of the Decepticons from the Transformers cartoon and movie) cake. We always bake our own cakes to be sure the ingredients are organic. So this was a fun task (Shockwave is one of my favorites too). I will share my personalized cake making experience in a future post but here are some images to give you an idea. Continue reading »

Welcome to the Alimentary Tuesdays Blog Carnival!

al·i·men·ta·ry adj \ˌa-lə-ˈmen-t(ə-)rē\

  1. of or relating to nourishment or nutrition
  2. furnishing sustenance or maintenance

Here at Organically Thought we cover several different topics. These topics share the common bond of health. Much of the time we attribute health with nutrition. We spend time exploring the anti-pharmaceutical approaches to preventative and corrective medicine. Our posts involve some type of food or food component. Many holistic medicine systems employ the use of these foods. It can be determined that there is a strong connection between health and nutrition. The internet along with the blog-o-sphere is a powerful tool for sharing and obtaining information.

We are hosting this blog carnival to help create new information sharing paths. A blog carnival is a post on the hosting blog with the option for visiting bloggers to leave a link to one of their blog’s posts. It is usually focused on one specific topic. All bloggers that submit their link choose one that pertains to that subject. Then the visiting blogger shares a link to this post with their readers. This is done by putting the link in the post that was submitted to the blog carnival. Continue reading »

Microwave ovens cook food with waves that are kind of like radio waves (but these waves move faster). They do this by oscillating electromagnetic energy. Essentially, these waves speed up the molecules (which is what heating is). These quicker waves are believed to be selective,  only affecting molecules that are electrically asymmetrical. Water, is a perfect example. A microwave heats food mostly by heating the water in it.

The truth about the research around the”microwave effect” is that it is inconclusive. You can find lots of claims supporting both views. These two views being that Continue reading »
